Inspiration

Every time I see kids jumping rope I think of the Beatles. Here’s the reason: Second grade, playground, I’m swinging on the swing as high as possible. Little girls are skipping rope and singing one of those rope skipping songs. (Do they still do this?) In the song they wind it up with “John! (rope snap) Paul! (rope snap) George! (rope snap)Ringo!” THAT was my first inclination these Beatle guys were something to pay attention to. In today’s strip the girls have no idea who the Beatles are because, it being 1907, the Fab Four haven’t been born yet. I suppose Wally is their first heartthrob!
