WHY ASK KIMBALL?

The character of Gertie is a mystery to me. I have no idea where she came from but I immediately liked her innocence. I named her after Windsor McCay’s Gertie the Dinosaur. McCay was one of the founders of animation. His work made other’s work look pretty amateurish – until Walt came on the scene years later.
